People visit orthopaedists mainly with the following symptoms: incorrect posture (often in schoolchildren), platypodia, scoliosis, spine aches, diseases of hip joints.
Vertebral osteochondrosis of children is a particularly serious problem. In case of spine aches an urgent examination is required in order to determine the cause of the ache and choose the right treatment.
Principles of children’s orthopaedia:
deformations shall be diagnosed and treated as early as possible (acquired deformations – immediately after diagnosis, and innate deformations – after birth)
any children’s orthopaedic treatment shall begin with conservative methods
operations are allowed only when the deformation has been partly eliminated or the conservative therapy is not efficient
after the operation in order to avoid relapse a rehabilitation course is required.
