Speech therapy is a branch of pedagogy studying speech development disorders at normal hearing, it examines manifestations, nature and mechanism of speech disorder, develops scientific bases of overcoming and preventing the disorders by means of special education and teaching.
The most common speech disorders at preschool age include mispronunciation – the inability to pronounce any sound, misuse of sounds, aberrations of sounds.
A speech therapist in the course of examination determines the speech defects, the level of lexical and grammatical development, knowing the phonetic composition of words, written speech, etc.

The specialist knows the methods of neuropsychological examination of children with different speech disorders: incorrect speech pronunciation, incorrect identification of objects, wrong spelling, etc. In accordance with the agreed programs the specialist arranges for individual sessions with children and consults relatives of ill children about home training.
